Gerry Freedom has been spinning on the 1’s & 2’s from a very early age. He’s had numerous years of experience working his way from being a rookie DJ in Highland Park, California to spinning at house parties, high school dances, & DJ battles with his brothers & high school friends in their teenage years. He’s also worked with such notable DJ artists such as Richard Vission, AJ Mora, & DJ Irene.
As he got older, Gerry would spin at some of the hottest nightclubs & venues in the L.A., Hollywood, & Orange County areas like Club 1 Oak (formally The Key Club), Giggles, The Mayan, Florentine Gardens, Club Blu, The Palace, & Club Soho. He has also had press interviews on UPN CH13 news, Street Beat magazine, Powertools Mix Show (Power 106FM), & Mun2TV (the L.A. Connection).
Gerry also interned, worked, & mixed on air at radio stations such as Power 106FM, La Onda 106.3FM, & even co-hosted/produced the Insomnio Mix Show, an after hours mix show for the once known Viva 107.1FM. He was also invited to spin on a weekly radio show on U92.7FM in Palm Springs.
Since his Father broke into the radio business in the mid 1950’s, it’s no surprise that Gerry & his brothers have always been in & around the radio & entertainment industries.
In 1993, Gerry decided to take a different direction in the DJ industry when he became a mobile DJ/MC entertainer performing weddings, corporate events, quinceaneras, & sweet 16’s. This, in turn, allowed him to land big contracts with major corporations like Disneyland & the L.A. Galaxy. Nothing had pleased him more than his years of performing nightlife & mobile events with his brothers under the companies once known as “G Entertainment”, “Studio G Pro Entertainment”, & also “SoCal Pro Entertainment”.
Gerry then decided to challenge himself further by teaching the art of DJing. In 2002, he reached another big accomplishment when he created, founded, & introduced Southern California’s first & only official DJ workshop, known at the time as the Studio G DJ Institute. He was now known not only for his music talents on the decks, however, also as a DJ instructor. He took great pride in teaching & spreading his DJ/MC skills to the next generation. Not realizing that someday he would be training tomorrows DJ’s, his 1st student (who also happened to be his nephew) was non other than DJ Lenny G from Mega’s 96.3FM radio station. After having a successful 6-year run, Gerry decided to close the DJ school in 2008.
Today, Gerry is very proud of his latest accomplishment. Under a new name & brand, he has built his new mobile DJ company, the Ultra Event Group, offering a new twist & variety of unique services to the mobile entertainment industry.
